10 Reasons You Should Buy Netflix
Posted by Justin under Uncategorized
1. Free Trial for a full 2 weeks!
That’s right, you can try, Netflix out for two full weeks to see if you like it. I know this is how I was introduced to their service and why I’m still using it today. If you wish to cancel your subscription at anytime in the two weeks, no matter the time of day you can. And you will be charged absolutely nothing.
2. More Movies for less money than renting from a store.
I used to rent movies religiously from stores and what not, places like Blockbuster Video. But, at $5 per rental the costs add up quick. If you’re renting a movie every weekend even…just ONE you are spending at least $20 per month, this is outrageous. If you’re anything like me you definitely rent more than one movie at a time and probably more than 4 in a month. Even at the rate of one per weekend that’s $240 per year you’re spending to rent movies from Blockbuster.
With Netflix you’re spending at the most $16.99/mo and that is at the highest plan available.. I use the much cheaper plan, but I will detail the plans in another number so please stand by.
3. Rent in full HD.
You can rent movies in full HD, they have several Blu-Ray titles which is growing by the day. I do not own a Blu-Ray player however after talking to several acquaintances of mine I have found there is a rather high demand for the higher quality discs. With the prices of Blu-Ray discs this is no doubt a feature many of the more high definition consumers will enjoy.
4. STREAM in full HD.
This is a feature I am well aware of, as I use the “Watch Instantly” feature the most on my Netflix account. How many other services allow you to stream movies in full HD? I use this whenever the title is available. Netflix says you need a 5Mbps connection at the least for this, which I’m betting most of you do if you have simple cable internet like myself. I am even sharing wireless with a few roommates and never have any issues streaming HD movies from netflix. The quality is night and day between a regular dvd title. If you have an HD television like myself you will be well aware of the differences.
5 Stream as many movies as you want.
Netflix has over 12,000 movie titles available to stream instantly. This feature was the absolute selling point for me. Seeing as I don’t have cable I use this feature religiously. And now that you can stream through Netflix-compatible players, this opens up even more users of the service as you can watch them on your TV rather than the computer. If you’re anything like me and watch movies on your computer a lot anyway this won’t really be an issue.

You can get this feature even for the lowest plan available on the service. However you can only stream 2 hours at a time with that plan, I opted for the second highest plan which allows you to stream unlimited movies per month. The “watch instantly” feature is my absolute favorite part of the Netflix service.
Here are the system equirements for “Watch Instantly” :
“You must have a computer running Windows XP or Mac OS X and an active broadband connection to the Internet.
Windows XP requirements: Service Pack 2 or higher or Windows Vista; Internet Explorer version 6 or higher; Firefox 2 or higher; 1.2 GHz processor; 512 MB RAM.
Mac OS X requirements: an Intel-based Mac with OS 10.4.8 or later; Safari 3 or higher; Firefox 2 or higher; 1 GB RAM.”
6. Ability to stream through Xbox Live/Netflix Devices:
I wrote a previous article about using Netflix on Xbox Live but recently there have been many Netflix-ready devices made available. Devices such as Samsung and LG Blu-Ray players and even one device by Roku that is specifically made just to steam Netflix movies.
Then of course you have Xbox Live which I use. I figure I am using Xbox Live to play video games anyway, it costs me nothing to add Netflix to my Xbox since I already have an account with them, you simply input an activation code in your Xbox and presto, you can now stream Netflix movies on your television.
7. Affordability.
NO LATE FEES. That’s right, as you’re well aware by Netflix’s advertising netflix has no late fees. As, I said earlier, compared to a movie-rental store you’re still saving a bundle of money by using the service but now you don’t have to worry about those annoying and costly late-fees. I know I’ve racked up my share of them when I was stupid and still using rental stores, like Blockbuster…
Their plans available are very reasonable here’s the layout:
| Plan | Rentals/month | Price/month* | 2 week Free Trial |
Hours Instantly on your PC |
| 3 DVDs at-a-time
Most Popular!
|
Unlimited! | $16.99 | YES | Unlimited hours also included |
| 2 DVDs at-a-time | Unlimited! | $13.99 | YES | Unlimited hours also included |
| 1 DVD at-a-time | Unlimited! | $8.99 | YES | Unlimited hours also included |
| 1 DVD at-a-time | Limit 2 per month |
$4.99 | YES | 2 hours also included |
I go with the 1 DVD at-a-time plan for $8.99 as it has unlimited streaming, and I can get a quick turnaround on the disc rentals seeing as there is a shipping facility right in the city I live in. For $8.99 I’m still getting probably around 10-15 movies a month in the mail and I don’t dare count how many I’ve streamed, but I can assure you it’s well over the amount I get in the mail. This would be at the least for the discs I get in the mail around $50/month from places like Blockbuster…I would definitely go broke if I was still renting from them, plus their selection is horrible compared to Netflix.
8. Selection of movies (over 100,000 dvd titles).
As I mentioned in the previous number, Netflix’s selection simply obliterates the rental stores. Pretty much any movie you can fathom is available. If it’s not available it will certainly become available here shortly. I have never had any trouble finding a movie I wanted to rent on DVD. Finding it available to stream is more of a problem but Netflix is constantly adding movie to the “watch instantly” feature so many times it will come available through there before it comes up in my queue.
It is not limited like the rental stores and I generally don’t have to worry about it being out of stock, as they have shipping facilities all over, nationwide.
9 Speed of delivery and free delivery.
100 shipping points nationwide giving 95% of their members ability to receive movie within 1 business day. Myself, there is a shipping facility right in Shreveport which is just over the river from where I’m stationed. Generally I get the movie one full day after I shipped the last one out, this turn around time is no problem for me as I mostly stream movies anyway. The only drawback of course is that if I go to the rental stores I can take the movie home right then and there, but I also have to make sure that it’s in stock as well as a slew of other issues with the stores.
As long as you have your queue list relatively filled up you can always be sure to have a Netflix DVD in your mailbox when you get home. And if you get the plan with three at a time you can always be sure you’ll have something to watch.
10. The reason so good I had to use it twice…A FREE TRIAL.
I know this was the first reason but this deal is outrageous, I mean you get the full use of the netflix service for a full two weeks with no charge. This at the very least is worth filling out the forms. You can start using it right away…hell if you don’t even have any intention of buying it you can at least get two weeks free out of the deal. I do not advocate ripping or burning of DVD’s but I know of several people who have done this with the service and have had no problems. You could add a few more to your collection this way
.
There is truly nothing to lose with this deal, you can’t say that about many free trials in this day and age, you can cancel it at anytime via their web-site available 24/7.
You’re out no money if you do cancel it, you just got to enjoy the service for 2 weeks at absolutely no cost to you.

interesting site… there should be just more such great content ?
