I knew this day would come..

Posted by Justin under affiliate marketing, Personal

So it’s been a little over a month since I started this internet marketing thing, or trying to rather.  I still have yet to make a sale, the only income I’ve had (which is still virtual until I get to $100) is via adsense.  I’m not sure if it’s the niche I’m in, my horrible site design or what.  But obviously I need to change something.

I figure it has to do with the niche I chose simply because a friend of mine was having much luck with it.  It’s something I have absolutely ZERO interest in, so anything I write on the subject is almost entirely fluff.  I’ve been having trouble coming up with a niche people spend money in that I’m also interested in though.  I think it’s because I’m such a cheap-skate I always find ways around paying for just about everything.

I guess I could also try some sort of drop-shipping methods rather than all this affiliate business.  The products they have to promote on most of these networks markets are so saturated already its pretty ridiculous.  I’d have better luck coming up with my own products I think.  These markets are simply over-run with every other guy/girl out there, like me, trying to make a buck.

Even the competition for this one low-result key phrase I’m going for is insane, I have like 40 articles out there and at least 200 backlinks from decent PR pages and I’m still on page 3 of the search results…

That is pretty insane, even the SERP’s for this site, my own personal site suffer from the google-dance constantly.  I don’t know if it’s all the lawyers with my personal name jockeying for the number one position or if Google changes their algorithm that much.

Time to find something else.  If you have any ideas for a new niche you should comment below.  :)

My XBox360 Horror Story/Experience

Posted by Justin under Personal, review, xbox360

This post has been updated you can reach the updated post by clicking this link.

Phone Rep: “No, You need a real address..”

Justin (Wyatt): “But, I do have a real address, it’s on a military base and your web application on xbox support won’t accept it?”

Rep: “Well, uh, you need a real address…”

Justin: “That is a REAL Address!”

Rep: “No, it’s not, uhm, you need a real address”

My thoughts:        (I think this guy clearly is a mental degenerate.)

Justin: “Well, can I speak with someone who’s not an idiot please?”

Rep:  “Well, sir there’s nothing we can do for you unless you have another address.”

Justin: “Well…sir, let me speak to your supervisor…”

(Insert another 2 hours worth of phone conversations over the course of about 10 phone calls)

Well, if you can’t tell from that I happen to unfortunately own a Microsoft Xbox 360 that I got for a bargain price off a friend a few months ago, that I cannot complain about.  However, just recently (a couple months ago now) I suffered the infamous “red ring of death” like so many of my fellow xbox owners.  I had just purchased Saints Row 2 and was amped to put it in and start playing.  I get to the loading new game screen and sdafdsccrsssssssssshhhhh, the xbox starts making all kinds of unnatural noises and freezes.

I start it up again to see to my not-so-surprised face that I have those god damn three red lights.

“Fuck.”

So I start checking on the XBox support web-site what I can do about this.  I find after putting in my

Three Day Weekend!

Posted by Justin under Uncategorized

Finally I have some free time this weekend to really get to work on some of my sites.  I have already realized some weak points in my current setup and will be fixing them this weekend.  I just yesterday started another new domain that is very promising, and will have all its content up by Sunday, I’m determined.  From then on it’s just up to the population at large to decide if they like it.

I’ve just spent the last 13 hours since I’ve got off work researching and nitpicking at my sites.  I really need to manage my time better I’d say… I mean look at this thing, right? ;)

So as you can imagine this post will probably rightly so be hard to understand.

In all my internet roaming I came across this one excellent blog from a man named Jeff Chandler, he has some excellent information on there, I suggest you check it out if you’re into blogging and the like.

http://performancing.com/

I particularly found his post about the 9 mistakes you can make in PPC campaigns, very informative, it’s no wonder this man has reached PR4 in the relatively short time he’s been up.

It has encouraged me to write less fluff in my posts, aside from this one of course…I can only do so much on this amount of sleep. My brain’s still functioning on some primal level so you’re lucky I can tell my fingers to smash the keyboard in any manner at all.

Enders Game Book Review

Posted by Justin under Personal, review

Enders Game by Orson Scott Card

A Review:

I came across this book a few weekends ago on Google books and could not put it down.  I read all of Enders Game start to finish in one sitting.  Although, google books only offered a preview for Enders Game, a quick trip to the base library gave me the whole thing.  I believe the google preview is good til about half-way through the book if you just want to start it to see if you’d enjoy Enders Game.

Although it seems like a book I would’ve read when I was a little younger, it still had a very clear message that would apply to anyone I think.  If you’re a bit of a sci-fi nerd like myself you will definitely enjoy all it’s space/technology-ridden plot.  I found this on some site listing the top sci-fi books of all time, it was number ONE.  I definitely agree with that list, it rivals even Issac Asimov’s short story “The Last Question” which is another favorite of mine.

I have no idea how this gem slipped by me for so long. I wish I had read it much younger then I might not feel like such a fool writing this blog about it. I’d have to say my favorite part is the end which I can’t give away I guess cause then this would be a spoiler rather than a review. It amazes me how dead-on some of Orson Scott Card’s guesses were to how the future would be in regards to computers anyway. They have these “desks” which are much like a laptop or something today that access the “nets.” They send messages/play games/whatever on them, his descriptions are almost exactly what the internet is today.

There is also Ender’s brother in the book, “Peter,” he has this uncanny resemblance in his description to that movie with McCally Culkin in The Good Son. He is constantly trying to murder, torture anyone and everyone, and is one manipulative bastard. If I had to take a guess the writer’s of that movie took a note or two from this book.

If you have some spare time or are looking for a good fiction read I fully recommend this book to add to your collection, you will not be disappointed. It just so happens amazon has a GREAT deal on it which you can buy through the link above. It’s a pretty short read (around 300 pages) and it will definitely keep you interested, don’t let the childish graphic on the cover fool you, there is some great content. It will be a title you will remember for years, Enders Game is seriously a great fiction book.

My Affiliate Marketing Experience…thus far

Posted by Justin under affiliate marketing, Personal

I originally started this site not only as a personal blog, but also to keep a record of my personal experience with affiliate marketing. I thought it would be neat to see where I end up while having a record of most everything from when I started.  So far I’ve been at this for about a month now on and off.  I must say it is no easy task, I have a much higher appreciation for all those ads you people see on the internet and get annoyed by.  Hell, I used to even use adblockers all the time, so I was completely oblivious.

The truth is it is a lot of work.  Just in the last few weeks in my off-time (which I don’t have much of lately!) I’ve been building sites, researching, finding products, researching, joining affiliate networks, and then some more damn researching!  It’s seriously like I’m working 2 full-time jobs right now.

With one of the jobs being the military my hours are not very well defined, some days you might work just 8 hours then others you end up working 14-16, and then there’s the rare occasion where you’ll only work 3 or so hours.  From there I come home and spend anywhere from 1-2 hours reading/updating my web-sites to a full blown 12 hours reading anything I can related to marketing on the internet, programming, web-design, product research, everything.  It’s pretty daunting when you think about it.  This also leaves very little room for sleep, most days I feel like a

My First Motorcycle: Suzuki SV650

Posted by Justin under motorcycles, Personal, sv650

A few month’s ago I began my hunt for a motorcycle, my first one to be exact.  I started off with an itch for a super-sport, a Yamaha R6, after seeing an 08 on the showroom floor I was pretty much sold.  I’m lucky I don’t make much money in my current career (the Air Force) otherwise I probably would’ve bought one that day.

2008 Yamaha R6

As the immediate attraction to the R6 wore off from being in it’s presence, I came home and began researching my options.  Considering a brand new R6 was going to put a decent dent in my wallet and that it would be my first bike.  I looked into several options including:

I Voted

Posted by Justin under election, Personal

So Last week or so I submitted my absentee ballot.  I personally did not have any trouble recieving it, but I’ve read several articles like the one linked below.  It seems those deployed have the biggest issues, and being so close to the election and them being overseas I don’t see the ballots making it by the deadline.  I know for the most part these absentee ballots are not even counted unless the election is so close which is another article all in itself.  With the incredible amount of these absentee ballots that must be submitted between my fellow service members and American’s who are at large around the world it could easily
